Nate Dee commissioned by Broward Cultural Division to create 900+ sq.ft. mural for the county centen

VisualEYES project features a select group of renowned South Florida artists who created ten murals around the County. A mural will be created in each of the nine County Commission Districts, including one at Port Everglades. Nate Dee conducted community engagement workshops in which he worked closely with residents to understand the social issues and identities of the surrounding neighborhoods.

The mural created is titled "Feathers of Hope". It was painted on the Edgar P. Mills Multipurpose Center in Broward's Ditrict #9. It touches upon the ideas of hope, family, intensity, persistence, resilience, and purpose. In designing the mural Nate drew inspiration from his close interactions with the Broward Family Success Center, African American Research Library and Cultural Center, Broward Urban League, Mt. Olive Corp, Lauderhill mayors office, & local residence.

Below you will see the painting process for the mural, as well as various images from his community engagements related to the project.
